Abstract
Many studies have identified variables that impact learning outcomes for students. Recently, researchers have begun to examine how generation can impact learning, especially for the most populous group in education, the Millennials. Millennials present differently than older generations and are often not well received by professors. It has been suggested that over indulgent parenting has predisposed these students to arrive in the classroom with a different set of expectations than older generations. Educating Millennials can turn into a war of wills between faculty wanting respect for tradition and Millennials demanding flexible and customized experiences. Although Millennials must adjust to the standards of college; faculty and advisors must alter their approaches to better serve this group. Achieving this balance can be especially tricky at an open enrollment institution.
